About Us

Welcome to Dolly's Doods! We're a small, family-run Goldendoodle breeding program nestled in Oregon's beautiful Willamette Valley. Our program began with Dolly Barkton, our matriarch, namesake, and the girl who started it all. Dolly was a certified therapy dog, and together, we worked in residential mental health with teenagers, where she was trained to recognize and alert to signs of depression, anxiety, and self-harm. Watching her work was incredible, and she made me a better clinical social worker. Before long, my coworkers all wanted a Dolly of their own, and in 2018, we welcomed our first litter, many of whom are still working today! We've been thoughtfully raising puppies ever since.

As a fifth-generation farmer with a background in clinical social work, I bring a unique perspective to breeding. I understand the importance of genetics, animal husbandry, temperament, and early experiences in shaping the dogs our puppies will become. From their earliest days, we incorporate early scent introduction, intentional handling, and desensitization exercises guided by established service dog development curricula. These practices help introduce our puppies to new experiences and build a foundation for confidence, adaptability, and future learning.

We intentionally keep our program small, typically raising just one litter each year, and won't plan a breeding until we have at least five families committed to welcoming a puppy. We never want to bring puppies into the world without knowing there are wonderful, permanent homes waiting for them. From carefully selecting our parent dogs to the time and attention we invest in each puppy, our goal is simple: to raise healthy, confident, loving Goldendoodles who have the best possible start in life.
